Tihomir Sabchev successfully defends his PhD dissertation!

On 17 December 2021, Tihomir Sabchev successfully defended his PhD dissertation titled 'Local authorities, human rights and the reception and integration of forced migrants in Greece and Italy'. 

The Defense Committee comprised of prof. Anna Triandafyllidou (Ryerson University), prof. Maurizio Ambrosini (University of Milan), prof. Dina Siegel (Utrecht University), prof. Paul Minderhoud (Utrecht University), and prof. Paul 't Hart (Utrecht University). In the last four years, Dr. Sabchev studied the responses of Greek and Italian municipalities to the arrival and settlement of asylum seekers and refugees. He carried out extensive field research in both countries, conducting interviews with mayors, municipal councilors, civil servants, and representatives of civil society, national authorities and international organizations. He worked under the supervision of prof. Barbara Oomen and dr. Moritz Baumgärtel.
