Tihomir Sabchev

Profile:

Tihomir Sabchev is a PhD candidate as part of the Cities of Refuge project, conducting research in Greece and Italy. He holds a MSc degree in Comparative Public Policy and Welfare Studies from the University of Southern Denmark in Odense. For his thesis he conducted a field-research project in Southern Italy, investigating the reception and integration of refugees and asylum seekers in rural Calabria. Tihomir has obtained a BA in Political Science from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece and has also studied as an exchange student at the University of Florence and at the University for Foreigners of Perugia in Italy. Before joining Cities of Refuge he worked for the United Nations Office for Project Services in Copenhagen and also volunteered for the Danish Refugee Council. Besides his native Bulgarian, Tihomir is also fluent in English, Greek and Italian, as well as conversationally fluent in Russian. His main research interest lies in the field of refugee reception and integration at the local level.
